How we bring the goodness to you
Perfectly ripe fruit takes time, and expert fruit pickers know exactly how much. Each piece of fruit is picked when it’s ready to make the most flavourful juice. Every season thousands of pieces of fruit are picked, checking colour, size and ripeness before plucking from the tree and transporting to the processing facilities.
Next, the fruit is cleaned and sorted, ready for juice extraction. Fruit is pitted and then every last drop of juicy pulp is pressed and squeezed out.
Juice from fruit like apples, grapes and oranges is extracted and concentrated (this means water is removed by evaporation) to reduce the volume and to prolong the shelf life. These concentrates are then diluted before filling and packing. This process of "adding water the back" is called reconstitution.
After blending, Ceres juices are pasteurized and then aseptically packed. The heat processing destroys the enzymes that are naturally found in the fruit, which can cause the juice to spoil and discolour and also kills any spoilage micro-organisms and pathogens that may be found in fruit. Modern pasteurization has minimal harmful effects on the taste, physical and nutritional content of the juice.
Next our Ceres juice boxes are ready to be whisked from our factory to your table.
The most important part of the process follows; quality control. Each batch of Ceres juice is rigorously tested by our team of experts to ensure absolute quality. Only when they are 100% happy the juice is packed and sent on journeys long and short, to be enjoyed around the world.
It’s no secret that our Valley gives Ceres juice its pure delicious flavour. But it’s our people that ensure the quality makes it all the way to you.
