As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the world, at Ceres we are taking proactive steps grounded in science to protect the safety of our products, our employees, their families and support our communities around the country. As one of South Africa’s largest manufacturers of food and beverages, we are considered a provider of essential goods. We will thus maintain our production capacity & distribution network globally, during the lockdown period as prescribed by the South African Government. We will continue to work hard so that you continue to enjoy your favourite Ceres Juices during this challenging period. Please keep safe.
Ceres is located in a perfect place to grow fruits. Warm days and cool nights, as well as the interplay between the cool currents of air give the fruit grown in the valley their delicious juicy nature, fresh aroma, firm, crisp flesh as well as their healthy distinctive colour. The considerable temperature differences between day and night boost the natural sugar content of the fruit making the flesh firm and juicy with an aromatic taste.
The Mediterranean-style climate, like the wet and cool winters, dry and warm summers allow the farmers in the Ceres valley to produce a wide variety of exotic fruits.
To ensure that we bring you the wide variety of fruit juices that we do, we need to source fruit from other areas in South Africa as well e.g. Pineapples from the Eastern Cape, Mangoes from Limpopo and Litchi’s from Mpumalanga. We also source further afield for fruits like blackcurrant and aronia berries which are not processed for juice locally and which we import from Europe. Other fruits also need to be imported from time to time to ensure constant supply.
