Vitamin C Benefits

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin which has many important roles in the body, which include:

  • Increase your body's ability to absorb iron from plant-based foods.
  • Protect you from infections by keeping your immune system healthy.
  • Help to prevent cell damage and may reduce your risk for certain cancers and other chronic diseases.[1]

Vitamin C is not stored in large amounts in the body, as any extra amount is lost through the urine, therefore you need to include vitamin C rich foods, such as fruit, vegetables and juices, in your diet every day (Supplements are also available.[2])

Since vitamin C is concentrated in juice, some juices contain even higher levels of vitamin C than whole fruit. [3] 

Citrus juices are particularly valuable sources of vitamin C and contribute other key nutrients such as potassium, folate, magnesium, and vitamin A. Orange Juice (OJ) intake has been associated with better diet quality in children and adults
